Animals, Taxidermy, and Fake Taxidermy in art

It all started (again.... and again) - well perhaps it really started with a former student and sunshine personality of a student Raina Belleau.   "help, I'm writing my thesis and need other examples of animals in art".
Oddly, this was not the first student who's asked me that.

so i figured it would be a good time to collect what I know of this topic  - somewhere

People sent me this image - that was in an article of Boing Boing, which at the moment I no longer have the link..... so it's going un credited at the moment.
sorry about that

Another student of mine:  Rachael Balsaitis  (see her work here:  http://www.mnartists.org/artistHome.do?rid=246433

She brought this artist to attention to me:  Rachel Denny
See her work here: http://racheldenny.com/home.html
as her sight says:
"  Denny is best known for her “Domestic Trophies” work—deer heads covered in cozy cashmere cable knit woolens and the like. She has shown in galleries nationwide for over 10 years, and her work will be shown at The Ohio Museum of Craft and the Winston-Wachter gallery in Seattle in the coming year.."

  1. Hi! I recently started making taxidermy-inspired art using fake fur and recycled materials:

I'm currently traveling the US in my converted school bus making these sorts of faux taxidermy:

I hope you enjoy my art, thanks!
